Today we were invited to speak about Isaiah House at Cartecay Baptist Church in Ellijay. The pastor, Davis Lacey, held out a $100 dollar bill to several young children up front. He asked them who wanted it? They all eagerly raised their hands. Then he scribbled on it, crumpled it up, and stomped on it with his dirty shoes. Then he asked if they still wanted it, and of course they did. He said that the way we feel about money is the way the Lord feels about us. When we are dirty, marred, stomped on and disregarded, he still wants us and values us. The message was not lost on the children. Then he said that he was giving that $100 to Isaiah House because he knew Isaiah House would use it for good and he would probably just use it on himself.
Ed came up and shared a bit of his story about being an addict, entering recovery, meeting the Lord, meeting Sally, and how Isaiah House came to be.
Sally invited the congregation to join in sowing into the Lord’s garden. She offered ways in which they could participate:
• Sponsor a man for $130 per week
• Help build a much needed shed
• Seed money to buy a 15 passenger van
• Help start our community garden
• Hire an Isaiah House man to work
• Use Isaiah House Painting and More
• Make a meal or cook a meal at Isaiah House
• Donate Food/Cigarettes
• Be available for occasional transportation
• Be a friend
• Allow a man to come volunteer and help serve you with a need you have, allowing him to give back to his community and leave the gift of servitude
