We are very excited to announce the upcoming opening of Isaiah House! Recently my husband, Ed, and I were introduced to a gentleman who desired to lease his newly acquired property to an entity that would serve the community in a positive manner. We believed the property would be an excellent location for a much needed men’s transitional housing and substance abuse recovery center.
In 2007 I heard Gilmer County Sheriff Stacy Nicholson state that 90% of the arrests made in Gilmer County were in some way drug related. He quoted a statistic that 1 in 40 Georgians used methamphetamine and that 1 in 10 used it in North Georgia. That is 1 in 10 in our schools, 1 in 10 in our work place, 1 in 10 in our neighborhood. In addition we have alcohol and drug use and abuse that includes; illicit prescription painkillers, crack, cocaine, marijuana, huffing and other designer drugs. Drugs and alcohol start out filling a black hole in the soul of a man. It can spread and take over their life destroying everything in its path. The victim then seems to find no way out. Usually this leaves a man and his family spiritually, emotionally, physically and economically bankrupt. If there is no change, this lifestyle is destined to repeat itself in the next generation.
We believe there is hope. We have a vision for ‘Isaiah House’

He has sent me to bind up the brokenhearted, to proclaim freedom for the captives and release from darkness for the prisoners, to proclaim the year of the LORD’s favor

We shall offer a healthy, balanced, and structured environment for the whole man, addressing the spiritual, physical, emotional, and financial issues. Our goal will be to provide a safe place where the tools for recovery, transformation, healing and wholeness can take place. We will provide our residents with the tools to break destructive patterns and habits, begin making right choices, set goals, restore broken relationships and begin living a disciplined abundant life with hope for a future.
Initially, this ministry will start out as transitional housing for men who have completed a substantiated recovery program. After the program and facilities have successfully developed, it will transition into becoming a full in-house recovery center. You can help make and sustain these plans to reality. We are currently in need of start up funds and we are excited about partnering together with funders who want to join us in making a difference in the life of others.
