We have a vision and desire to offer a community garden where new and old friends alike, as well as those in need, may come learn about gardening and reap the benefits of their labor. We will instruct how to prepthe ground for gardening, how to sow seeds and care for plants. We will demonstrate how to can, freeze and use fresh produce, and encourage giving to others.
Thanks to Ricky Boring, who generously offered to plow and turn over the Isaiah House garden, we have a very large space to grow crops. Tony Balfa brought over a flatbed load of horse manure and Coosawattee River Resort is allowing us to have as much mulch as we like [since we own property in Coosawattee]. This is a great start! America the Beautiful gave Isaiah House 100 free packets of seeds, which we have started growing in pods. Pat and Frank Corker, owners of Smoky Holow Farm in Cherry Log donated the framing for a hoop house [this is like a green house].
Thanks to everyone who has helped get the Isaiah House garden going, and thank you to all who will come in the days ahead!
