Isaiah House has been featured in the December 13th Lifestyle section of the online news source, FetchYour News.com
“Isaiah House is a transitional home that offers men the opportunity to learn skills necessary to piece their lives together after being shattered by drug or alcohol addiction, a continuing problem in many communities like our own.”
“Directors Ed and Sally Jeffery have a personal connection to the struggles these men face in society every day. Their motivation for founding the house sprung from a need Ed saw first-hand. “

This Thanksgiving we enjoyed 16 Isaiah House men and guests. We were blessed with an abundance of food, laughter, and gratitude. We all shared what was the same and what had changed since last year. There was a lot of heartfelt reflection on how blessed each of us are.

We recently created a House Manager position to help with the day-to-day operations here at Isaiah House. And the house manager needed to have his own bedroom. Located along the main residential hallway, Ed’s former office was an ideal location.
We decided that we needed a house manager bedroom and an office for Ed, more than we needed a guestroom. So our former guestroom has been converted into Ed’s new, spacious, sunlit office.

Bad chickens eating the tomatoes!
Our garden is off to a great start, thanks to Debra Young for donating a trailer full of horse manure, and Isaiah House composting all year. Our soil is fantastic this year. We have already enjoyed our first crop pickings of cucumbers, squash and zucchini. Tomaotes are about to turn red, if I can keep the chickens away from them.

- My beautiful garden!
We have planted a variety of tomatoes and peppers, bush beans, string beans and snap peas. We have okra, cucumbers, squash, zucchini, eggplant, watermelon and cantelope. And of course, a plentiful herb garden where we enjoy fresh herbs and I also dry them for use later in the year. Bon Appetit!

Caspian at five weeks
Caspian is now two months old. Amazingly enough he can now actually impregnate…! We will be “wethering” him next week to prevent this[unless someone contacts me who wants a registerable Sannen buckling].
We now have four goats and they are an absolute joy!

Mamma Lucy looking for a snack!
This Lucy, my Sannen goat who gave birth to a doe and buckling on April 9, 2010. It was very exciting! The goal is to be able to milk Lucy and make cheese.
So far, she has proven very difficult!
